Vingroup’s mobility arm has entered India’s ride-hailing market with a fleet ownership model and plans to deploy 10,000 electric vehicles across Delhi-NCR.
Green SM, the Vietnam-based mobility company backed by Vingroup, launched its electric taxi service in Delhi-NCR on June 5, 2026. The company plans to deploy around 10,000 electric vehicles in the region. India is Green SM’s fifth international market after Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Operations start with the VinFast Limo Green, a seven-seater electric SUV built for passenger transportation, painted in a distinctive cyan shade. Every vehicle carries interior and exterior cameras, AI-enabled monitoring systems, and emergency support buttons for drivers and passengers. Drivers have been trained in electric vehicle operations, road safety, and customer service before going live.
The operating model sets Green SM apart from its competitors. Uber, Ola, and Rapido connect passengers with independent drivers who own their vehicles. Green SM owns its entire fleet, giving it direct control over vehicle quality, safety standards, and service consistency.
Nguyen Van Thanh, Global CEO of Green SM, said at the launch: “India is one of the most important mobility markets in the world. Its scale, rapid growth, and strong spirit of innovation are opening up many opportunities for the future of green transportation.”
On its India approach: “We come to India with respect for the market, confidence in its long-term potential, and a commitment to working closely with local partners.”
Rides can be booked through a smartphone app or in operational zones. Introductory discounts of 50% or up to Rs 250 per ride are available between June 5 and June 11, 2026. Green SM will expand in phases, with Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Chennai among its longer-term targets.
Green SM is a Vietnam-based electric mobility company and part of the Vingroup ecosystem, headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam.
